Interviewed on the podcast (Re)cover Girl

New interview with Jemima on this podcast, be sure to listen to it!

Actress and artist Jemima Kirke came on the podcast. Yes, those are thrilling words to write. This is not only exciting because she’s luminous, talented and plays Jessa on freaking Girls but also because she has a history with substances that you don’t hear many people share about. After a wild youth, which included multi-day benders and bouts of depression, Kirke showed up at her mom’s in early 20s, saying she was ready for rehab. She went from one treatment center to the next, finding enough fault with the program there for her to be kicked out (but not before meeting the man she eventually married, who happens to now own a sober living).

After years of staying sober and doing the 12-step thing, Kirke began to question whether the one-size-fits-all philosophy about addiction applied to her. And so she had a drink. Contrary to what she’d been told, nothing bad happened. That was a few years ago and in that time, she’s watched her career rise to superstardom and embraced motherhood (in addition to the two kids she has with her husband, she is also the step-mother to his kids from a previous marriage). In this episode, we talk about self-hatred, rehabs just out to take your money and if meeting your future spouse in treatment is “trauma bonding,” among other topics.

Jemima and the ‘Girls’ on Jimmy Kimmel yesterday

Jemima and the ‘Girls’ on Jimmy Kimmel yesterday

Jemima and her friends and co-stars from Girls were at the Jimmy Kimmel show yesterday, April 5, 2017. They did a sketch based on the Golden Girls and you can view it below or in our video archive.

And Lena posted a film with her and Jemima “making out”, haha. View it on her instagram!

The Daily Mail (UK) posted an article on it:

It’s only been five years since we were first introduced to the girls from Girls, but in that time, they appear to have aged… a LOT.

After recently wrapping filming on their hit HBO series, the girls cast – Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams and Zosia Mamet – reunited one more time for a skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night.

Taking on the iconic Golden Girls, the Girls cast were transformed into old ladies for the hilarious spoof.

But some things never change, with Lena still flashing her boobs for the camera, despite getting on in age.

A teaser trailer for the skit showed the 30-year-old actress – complete with a curly white-grey wig on her head – peeking out from behind a shower curtain.

She then pulls the curtain even further back to reveal her breasts, which have been pixelated, a huge cheeky grin on her face.

Another part of the trailer shows Lena, Jemima and Allison pushing Zosia – as innocent and naive Shoshana – into a cupboard before laughing hysterically.

The teaser opens with Zosia, 29, wearing a fluffy pink wig and oversize glasses, standing in a kitchen, a tea towel over one shoulder and a yellow plaid apron tied around her waist.

She appears to be yelling at someone off camera, before biting down on her fist in frustration.

It then cuts to Jemima, 31, who is wearing a long grey wig, glasses and an orange hippie style blouse.

She’s relaxing at the dining room table, reading a newspaper, when her dentures fall out.

Meanwhile, Allison, 28 – donning a short blonde wig and dressed in a black leather skirt, beige silk blouse with ruffles and a black cardigan with embellishment – is seen standing in front of the fridge.

She’s sneakily cramming chicken fillets down her bra.

A teaser photo was also posted to the Jimmy Kimmel Live Instagram page showing the 49-year-old TV host standing with the Girls cast and their co-star, Andrew Rannells, 38.

He’s wearing a highway patrol officer shirt, aviator sunglasses, gloves – and no pants.

‘THIS IS HAPPENING TONIGHT!’ was the caption.

Meanwhile, Lena shared a teaser of her own, posting a video of herself kissing Jemima while both dressed as old ladies.

‘Let’s give em something to talk about…’ she captioned it.

TV Alert – ‘Watch What Happens Live’ on April 10

Jemima will be on the show ‘Watch What Happens Live’ on April 10. Other guests will be Dennis Quaid and I hope the show will be available online afterwards so all of us that live outside the US can get a chance to view it!
Don’t miss it!

Jemima writes memorial to her younger brother

Jemima writes memorial to her younger brother

Article from The Daily Mail (UK) but to see Jemimas original posts, please go to Jemimas official twitter. Rest in peace, Simon.

Girls star Jemima Kirke took to Twitter on Tuesday to pen a heart-wrenching memorial to her younger brother who died last year just shy of his 20th birthday.

In sharing the memorial for her brother Simon Creager, the 31-year-old actress recounted ‘why he is no longer with us’, as she claimed the doctor who delivered him during birth allegedly made a mistake that left him severely disabled.

‘Last week, march (sic) 31st was my little brothers (sic) birthday. He is no longer with us and let me explain why: His mother’s pregnancy was absolutely healthy. As was the baby and the labor,’ Kirke’s note begins.

Kirke then claims that the doctor, who will not publicly name, ‘took his life on march (sic) 31st 1997’.

‘With his heart rate dropping dramatically towards the end of the labor (due to the umbilical cord around him (sic) neck) Dr. (redacted) decided that it was a better idea to use a Vacuum rather than conduct an emergency c section on his mother.’

Kirke claims that the doctor ‘pulled on that baby’s head for close to 45 minutes.’

In the note, the British artist added: ‘When he was finally delivered the abrasions to his crown were so bad and he’d been without sufficient oxygen for so long that he was left mostly brain dead.

‘He wasn’t expected to live past the age of 2 or 3.’

Kirke acknowledges that she believes the doctor did make a ‘mistake’, noting that everyone does in their particular field of work.

‘But in her particular line of work, THIS kind of mistake should have cost her her job. 20 yrs. (sic) later. She’s still working and practicing (redacted),’ Kirke wrote.

‘If you’re in the area stop by her practice and let her know he lived.

‘Tell her, ‘Dr, (redacted), Simon Creager lived until he was 19! He died just shy of his 20th bday. (sic) Albeit, immobile, unable to talk or eat, blind and with severe cerebral palsy. But a spirit that survives on and offers nothing but love is a most valuable one. Just incase (sic) you’re interested!’

‘He changed all who came in contact with him. Including me.’
This seems to be the first time Kirke has spoken of Creager and what she claims happened during his birth. It’s unclear who his mother is and where he was living. It’s also unclear if Creager’s family took any legal action.

Calls placed by to the doctor in question were not returned as of Tuesday afternoon.

Since sharing the post about her brother on Twitter, one of her followers replied with words of simply towards the actress.

‘Awful. Thoughts are with you & yours. Good on your bro for proving them wrong & living as long (albeit not nearly long enough) as he did,’ @marap23 wrote to Kirke.

The tragic post about her brother comes three months after the actress announced she was divorcing husband Michael Mosberg.

The couple share two children together, Rafaella, six, and four-year-old Memphis.

‘I got divorced, and I attribute that to acting,’ she said. ‘And just asking myself, ‘Is this really me?’ So much of my life has been about reaction, just following the flow rather than making a strong choice.’
