Vice: Garage interviewed Jemima recently and as usual it’s a great read and you can also view a new photoshoot by photographer Alex Hodor Lee (taken in 2016) of Jemima and several more of her paintings that are on display at Sargent’s Daughters until January 21st, 2018.
“It was hard to find a divorced woman who wanted to put her wedding dress back on.”
Best known for her portrayal of Jessa in Girls, Jemima Kirke’s first love has always been art. The British-born American artist and actress got her first studio at seven, graduated from RISD in 2008, and nowadays spends as much time as possible painting in her Red Hook studio. GARAGE sat down with Kirke to discuss her off-and-on artistic career and current show of bride paintings at New York gallery Sargent’s Daughters.

Sargent’s Daughters has posted several times about Jemima’s exhibition “The Ceremony” and I feel it’s so unfair that I have the whole Atlantic ocean between me and New York 😉 Go visit if you can and these paintings are so beautiful, maybe one day I will be able to purchase one!

Jemima posted about her exhibition, “The Ceremony”, on her Twitter some days ago and we got to see a lovely painting of Allison Williams.
If you are able to you can go and see the exhibition at 179 East bway in New York City.
An article online mentioned Jemima and we now now that she will have an exhibition/show opening on December 13 in New York. So if you are able go there, we envy you! 😉 We will post more information when we find out more!
A solo exhibition of work by Peter Granados is up now at Sargent’s Daughters until December 3, and a show by the artist and actress Jemima Kirke opens December 13.
Jemima is featured on the cover of the UK magazine Jungle and you can get your own copy at the magazines official site. The new photoshoot is absolutely gorgeous and they were recently taken by the talented photographer Ryan James Caruthers.
We will try and get magazine scans as soon as possible so you can see all the photos and read the interview. It’s always so much fun when something new comes up with Jemima, especially new photoshoots!
In this edition, we wanted to explore the notion of being resilient through fashion in more ways than one. The interview with our cover star, Jemima Kirke, known as an actress and artist, but most importantly a mother, tells us of her own struggle making a new life in a new country and rediscovering herself.
